Authentic Pemmican bars made with 100% Grass Fed Beef and Grass Fed Beef Tallow. The Beef comes from sources that have committed to excluding the use of mRNA vaccines in their animals. We have taken every possible step to allow for the longest shelf life, from the drying process, water activity testing (on every batch), package materials and the nitrogen flush during sealing to remove any oxygen or moisture. Bars do not have an expiration date stamped but rather a creation date. We are confident the bars if stored properly have a min. shelf life of 10 years but many info sources suggest it could be 25 years or even more.
The bars are actually formed in a traditional chocolate bar mold. The reason is that we are able to have five scored break away pieces, so that you can just break off a piece or two and put the rest back in the bag and close with the zip seal. Pemmican is very dense and filling from the high fat content, so for many situations it's not appropriate to eat an entire bar at one time, especially on the go.

What is Pemmican?
“Pemmican” is a Native American word for a shelf stable animal based survival food. This ancient food has been used to not only survive, but to thrive when regular food was not available due to harsh winter conditions or other challenging circumstances. If produced, packaged and stored properly it can have a shelf life of 25 years or possibly much more.
Pemmican was developed by Native Americans and was an important food to have ready at all times. When European settlers came to the New World, Pemmican became an important trade item and is the reason the West was eventually settled. It was so critical that there were even wars fought over it! Explorers have used it on expeditions to harsh places like the North Pole.
Pemmican was traditionally made from Buffalo meat and rendered Buffalo fat (tallow), but at times from other animals such as fish or small game - really any quality protein and fat source worked. It’s believed that dried berries were later added to appeal to the Western palate for Pemmican that was made for trade. Typically there is a 1:1 ratio of protein to fat, and it’s the fat that is so important to be able to subsist for periods on only Pemmican.
Prepared Provisions is bringing back this ancient food while taking advantage of modern technology to bring you a long shelf life, consistent bar that is convenient. Having a good stash for emergency situations can help put your mind at ease in these unsettling times. Five bars a day is enough to handle most situations, and at 2 oz each that’s less than 5 pounds to have a week’s supply or more. Our Initial flavors are Sea Salt, Organ Meat (50% Heart, Kidney & Liver),Honey (with a touch of sea salt), Honey Organ (30% organ meat plus honey for those those that like less gamey but still want the benefit of organ meats (kid friendly as well). With the Organ Honey version you can't taste the organ meats at all. We have many more flavors planned once those versions are well into production.
